Travel and cancellation insurance

For a ski vacation, it is important to travel with suitable insurance. Please check well before departure whether your travel insurance and any cancellation insurance match your vacation.

Pay particular attention to whether your insurance includes winter sports coverage. Skiing, snowboarding, and other activities in the snow are not always automatically covered by a standard travel insurance policy.

What is sensible to check?

We recommend checking at least the following with your insurer:

  • Whether winter sports are included;
  • Whether medical costs abroad are sufficiently covered;
  • Whether assistance, mountain rescue, and repatriation are included;
  • Whether luggage and ski or snowboard equipment are insured;
  • Whether rented ski equipment is insured in case of damage, loss, or theft;
  • Whether cancellation or early departure is covered by your cancellation insurance;
  • Whether liability is properly covered.

Cancellation insurance

Cancellation insurance can be important if you unexpectedly need to cancel your trip or return home early. Check carefully which situations are covered by your insurance and up to what amount you are insured.

Also pay attention to when you take out the insurance. With many insurers, cancellation insurance must be taken out shortly after booking the trip.

Traveling with a group?

Are you traveling with family, friends, colleagues, or another group? Then it is sensible for each participant to check their own insurance. In most cases, everyone is personally responsible for suitable travel, cancellation, and liability insurance.

In doubt? Contact your insurer

Wens Chalets cannot provide personal insurance advice and cannot assess your policy. If in doubt, always contact your own insurer or insurance adviser.

This way, you can be sure you are well prepared and can set off on your ski vacation with peace of mind.
