Chalet Joy has seven luxury double bedrooms spread across three floors. The bedrooms vary in layout and amenities, allowing you to decide in advance which rooms are best suited to the different members of your group. The interior has an upscale alpine character, combining substantial timber, natural materials, and contemporary furnishings to create a warm and stylish Austrian atmosphere.
On the top floor is the spacious primary bedroom for two guests. It features a wood-burning stove, private sauna, walk-in closet, and a generous bathroom with a shower and bathtub. The bedroom also has access to the shared balcony. Another double bedroom on the same floor has its own bathroom, walk-in closet, and access to the balcony.
On the main living floor are two double bedrooms that share one bathroom. This floor also contains the spacious living room with fireplace and television, the balcony, and a separate dining room where the entire group can enjoy breakfast and dinner together. Firewood for both the wood-burning stove in the primary bedroom and the fireplace in the living room is included during your stay.
There are three additional double bedrooms on the ground floor. One has its own wellness area with a sauna, Turkish steam room, and shower. Each of the other two bedrooms has its own private bathroom located off the hallway.
After a day on the mountain, skis and ski boots can be stored safely and comfortably in the heated ski room.

During your stay at Chalet Joy, our chalet hosts prepare breakfast on seven mornings and a three-course dinner on six evenings. A selection of beverages, including beer, soft drinks, and wine, is also included during your stay in Wagrain.
This means you do not need to grocery shop or cook for a large group after a day of skiing. Instead, you have more time to enjoy your ski vacation in the Austrian Alps. From late afternoon onward, relax beside the fireplace, sit out on the balcony, or enjoy the sauna and Turkish steam room while your chalet hosts prepare your three-course dinner.
Our catered chalet service is particularly well suited to Chalet Joy. There is plenty of space for your group to spend time together and enjoy the chalet's amenities, while the different floors and bedrooms also provide privacy whenever you would like some time to yourself.
Peaceful location above Wagrain and close to the slopes
Chalet Joy is located on Widmoosweg on the mountainside above Wagrain. The chalet offers unobstructed views across the valley and surrounding mountains. The center of Wagrain is approximately one kilometer, or 0.6 miles, away.
The nearest major gondola is the Flying Mozart, approximately one kilometer from the chalet. When snow conditions are favorable, it is possible to start and finish your ski day very close to the chalet. However, we deliberately do not advertise Chalet Joy as guaranteed ski-in/ski-out accommodation because this depends on snow conditions. Having a rental car during your stay is therefore very convenient.
Skiing from Wagrain toward Flachau and St. Johann
From Wagrain, you ski in Snow Space Salzburg, part of Ski amadé in Austria. The ski area connects Wagrain with resorts including Flachau and St. Johann-Alpendorf, allowing you to explore several parts of the mountain from one central base without driving to a different resort each day.
Snow Space Salzburg offers approximately 210 kilometers, or 130 miles, of ski runs. Wagrain is an important connection point between the different sections of the ski area. The Flying Mozart and G-LINK lifts provide convenient access to the surrounding mountains and connections toward Flachau.
Wagrain is therefore an excellent base for groups with different skiing abilities. There is a large selection of beginner-friendly and intermediate terrain, while experienced skiers have plenty of opportunities to explore farther across the connected ski area.
Getting to Chalet Joy from the United States
For travelers coming from the United States, flying and renting a car is generally the most practical way to reach Wagrain. Salzburg Airport is the closest airport, approximately 70 kilometers or 43 miles from the chalet. Flights from the United States to Salzburg generally require a connection through another European airport.
Another convenient option is to fly into Munich Airport in Germany and rent a car there. Munich Airport is approximately 240 kilometers, or 150 miles, from Wagrain, with a drive of roughly 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic and winter conditions. Munich generally offers a wider range of transatlantic connections than Salzburg.
From Salzburg Airport, the drive to Wagrain takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Rental cars and private transfers are available. For a group staying at Chalet Joy, we generally recommend renting a car because the chalet is located in a quiet position above the village and there is no ski bus stop directly outside the property.
Four complimentary parking spaces are available at Chalet Joy. The final road to the chalet can be steep and slippery during snowfall. When renting a vehicle, make sure it is appropriately equipped for winter driving and ask the rental company about winter tires and snow chains.
Travel by train is also possible once you are in Europe. The nearest convenient railway station is St. Johann im Pongau. From there, the final journey to Wagrain can be completed by bus, taxi, or private transfer.
